間接疑問文とは
直接疑問文とは、友人や家族など、よく知っている人に尋ねることができる「普通の」疑問文です。
直接質問の例：
「トイレはどこですか」
間接質問は、もう少しフォーマルで丁寧な質問です。

Direct and Indirect Questions in English: 例
直接的：Where is Market Street?
間接的。 Could you tell me where Market Street is?
is/areを使った間接疑問文では、主語（Market Street）の後に動詞（is）が来ます。
Direct What time does the bank open?
Indirect: Do you know what time the bank opens?
間接疑問文では、助動詞のdo/does/didは使いません。 また、直接疑問文では動詞が「開く」、間接疑問文では「開く」となっていることがわかります。
直接：なぜヨーロッパに引っ越したのですか？
間接：なぜヨーロッパに引っ越したのか気になっていました。
ここでも、間接疑問文には助動詞didがありません。
Direct: How has he managed to get in shape so quickly?
Indirect:
助動詞のhaveとhasは、直接質問でも間接質問でも使うことができますが、直接質問ではhasが主語（he）の前に来て、間接質問ではhasが主語の後に来ます。
直接：このオートバイはいくらですか？
間接：このオートバイがいくらなのか知りたいです。
間接疑問文にするには、doesを外し、costをcostsに変えます。 Can you finish the project by tomorrow?
間接：Would it be possible for you to finish the project by tomorrow?
canを使った直接質問の場合は、「would it be possible…」というフレーズを使って間接的にすることができます。 Can we change the meeting to Thursday?
Indirect: Is there any chance we could change the meeting to Thursday?
「Is there any chance…」はcanを使った間接疑問文を形成するためのもう一つの選択肢です。
Yes/Noの直接質問 -> 間接質問の「If」
直接質問が「Yes or No」の質問（what、who、when、where、why、howなどの疑問詞がない）の場合、間接質問にはifがつきます。
Direct: Does Tom like Italian food?
Indirect: トムがイタリア料理が好きかどうか知っていますか？
Direct: あなたのご両親は私たちの夕食に参加しますか？
間接的です。
Direct: Are your parents joining us for dinner?
Indirect: ご両親が夕食に参加されるかどうかを教えてください。
Direct: Do they speak English?
Indirect: I was wondering if they speak English.
Direct: Has Barbara ever studied abroad?
Indirect: バーバラが留学したことがあるかどうか、あなたは知っていますか？
直接。 Do you plan on traveling this summer?
Indirect: I’d like to know if you plan on the summer.
Direct: Do you plan on travel this summer?
