A tendência, em inglês, e especialmente em inglês americano, é a de padronizar os verbos irregulares. Não prevemos que todos os verbos irregulares alguma vez sejam padronizados, mas algumas das variações mais pequenas em palavras menos usadas desaparecerão provavelmente na próxima geração ou duas.
Os seguintes verbos irregulares em inglês estão agora obsoletos e utilizam as formas padrão do passado e particípio (-ed).
